A Christmas Carol
by Strangeface
'YOU'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE ME BEFORE!.....' says the Ghost of Christmas Present.

Strangeface have created an extraordinary adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic ghost story A Christmas Carol. Eccentric masks, wild puppets, and a magical set combine to create an entrancing brew that is both moving and comic. This festive performance is suitable for all but the very young and includes the company's ever-popular backstage tour.

A masked chorus lead the characters through the hidden doors and windows of the higgledy-piggeldy set and their conversations with the audience make each performance unique. The company features performers who have previously worked with Trestle Theatre Company, Faulty Optic and Green Ginger.

Strangeface have been touring nationally since 2001 and are equally at home in grand old theatres as rural halls in the Highlands. The Guardian described Artistic Director Russell Dean's masks as "shooting straight for the heart" and their distinctive style blends quick changes, mask and puppet play with original live music and spooky soundscapes.

When Strangeface performed this piece in 2009/10 audience members said:

"We came to see A Christmas Carol and honestly I just can't tell you how much I enjoyed it! There's such inventiveness and charm about the piece and in the way you present it. The characters were absolutely brilliant and really alive! It was also a wonderful opportunity to be invited to explore the set afterwards, see the masks and puppets up close and that you were so open to talk to the audience. Thank you for bringing such a wonderful performance to Rutland..." Audience Member, Oakham

"Let me start by congratulating the company on Christmas Carol. I'm sure you have already received heaps of praise for the show, but I would just like to add my own view. It truly was a wonderful evening. I was totally engrossed from start to finish. I keep hearing my Year 13 group saying things like 'Oh we could do what Strange Face did' which is great! I am very keen to provide them with a workshop with you." Teacher, Peterborough

Charles Dickens' enduring tale and Strangeface's inimitable style is a combination not to be missed!
